Spend your days exploring the Devon countryside and coast, wandering around our private lake or meeting the animals on the farm. Then head back to your cottage, pour a drink and sink into your private hot tub beneath the Devon night sky.

Inside, you’ll find a beautifully presented open-plan living, dining and kitchen area with comfortable seating and a fully equipped country kitchen. Large windows fill the cottage with natural light, creating a bright and welcoming space in which to relax.
Underfloor heating keeps Ostlers cosy throughout the year, while renewable energy from solar panels and a ground source heat pump helps provide a more environmentally conscious countryside stay.
The spacious bedroom features a luxurious super-king-size bed, perfect for lazy mornings and a good night’s sleep after a day exploring Devon and Cornwall. An adjoining ensuite shower room provides privacy and convenience throughout your stay.

Outside, Ostlers has its own private enclosed garden overlooking the kitchen garden – a peaceful spot for morning coffee, a good book or simply listening to the birds.

A Little Piece of History
Ostlers Cottage is full of character and has a fascinating story of its own. The building once formed part of the original stables serving Winsford Tower, a Victorian stately home that stood nearby at the heart of the historic Winsford Estate.
As you approach the cottage, you may notice that the front door sits unusually high. When the building was converted into accommodation, the floor level was raised by approximately 40cm, leaving a little clue to its former life.
The section with the two original window openings was once a small one-bedroom dwelling occupied by the estate’s ostler – the horseman responsible for caring for the horses. Today, this historic building has been transformed into a cosy countryside hideaway, blending its heritage with modern comfort.
