Meet the Horses

We only went to see Spot and Squiggle, our two pigs. We had no idea we’d come away having fallen in love with four horses as well.

Angela used to have horses, and her beloved Jo Jo held a very special place in her heart. When Jo Jo died, Angela said she wouldn’t have another horse until she had land of her own. Having horses again was part of the dream she shared with her mum, but after moving to Lower Winsford Farm, she didn’t expect it to happen straight away.

Then we went to see the pigs (Isabelles’ idea) and met Tarka, Leonard, Florance and Fizzy. It felt like a sign. Suddenly, the final part of Angela and her mum’s dream was coming true, and four beautiful horses were on their way to Lower Winsford Farm.

Tarka, our black Friesian, is always interested in what’s going on and loves to come over for a look and a neck scratch. Leonard is our cheeky grey boy, going through his toddler stage and getting into absolutely everything. Florance, our lovely bay, is a devoted mum to Fizzy. Fizzy is fluffy, bay and incredibly nosy: one minute she’s busy playing, and the next she’s fast asleep while Florance enjoys a moment of peace.

They’ve each brought their own personality to the farm. Seeing them settle in together has made this place feel even more like home.
