Sometimes it’s worth venturing a little further afield, and yesterday we decided to visit the beautiful Totnes, around 1 hour and 15 minutes from Lower Winsford Farm.

From the moment we arrived, we could see why so many people love this historic market town. Totnes has a wonderful atmosphere, with its independent spirit, colourful streets and an amazing collection of unique and wonderfully eccentric shops. Whether you’re searching for handmade gifts, antiques, books, local produce or something completely unexpected, there’s something to discover around every corner.

The town is also home to plenty of welcoming cafés, restaurants and traditional pubs, making it the perfect place to stop for breakfast, lunch or simply a coffee while watching the world go by. If you visit on one of the market days, you’ll find a fantastic selection of local traders selling everything from artisan food to crafts and vintage treasures.

For those wanting to make a full day of it, Totnes has even more to offer. You can climb aboard the historic South Devon Railway steam train for a nostalgic journey through the Devon countryside, or enjoy a relaxing boat trip along the beautiful River Dart, taking in the stunning scenery from the water.

It’s easy to spend an entire day exploring Totnes at a leisurely pace, soaking up its friendly atmosphere and discovering something new around every corner.
