Another scorching hot day arrived at Lower Winsford Farm, and if we’re being honest, it was simply too hot to tackle any of the practical jobs waiting for us!
With temperatures soaring, we decided to take the opportunity to sneak away for a few hours and head to one of our favourite local coastal spots – Summerleaze Beach in Bude, just 35 minutes from Lower Winsford Farm.
Our first stop was breakfast at Life’s a Beach, perfectly positioned overlooking the sea. There’s something special about enjoying a leisurely breakfast while watching the waves roll in. Great food, beautiful views and a relaxed atmosphere made for the perfect start to the day.
After breakfast, we wandered onto the beach to enjoy the clean sand, fresh sea air and a little time doing absolutely nothing. Sometimes that’s exactly what’s needed.
One of the things we love most about Summerleaze Beach is its famous sea pool. This large semi-natural swimming pool provides a safe place to enjoy the water and is ideal for swimming when the tide is out. Whether you’re looking for a refreshing dip or simply somewhere to cool off on a hot day, it’s a wonderful feature that makes Summerleaze unique.
Along the beachfront you’ll find a handful of beach shops selling all the essentials you might need, from buckets and spades to snacks and refreshments.
Of course, no seaside trip would be complete without ice cream! To round off the day, we treated ourselves to a delicious Farmer Tom’s ice cream cone before heading back home.
The beach is dog-friendly all year round, although during the summer months dogs are required to be kept on leads. It’s a fantastic place for a stroll, a paddle and a relaxing day beside the sea.
As we continue discovering and exploring our new corner of Devon and Cornwall, Summerleaze Beach is definitely one place we’ll be returning to time and time again. From the sandy beach and sea pool to the cafés, shops and stunning coastal views, it’s easy to see why it’s such a popular destination.
Sometimes the best way to spend a hot summer’s day is simply to slow down, enjoy the sea breeze and appreciate the beautiful places right on your doorstep.
